Orlando, FL

WHERE WE STAYED

We recently traveled up to Orlando for a family weekend getaway. My husband and I attended University of Central Florida and lived in Orlando for 4 years so when Wyndham on International Drive reached out, we were so excited to visit again and bring our daughter. I planned a fun weekend full of fun activities and the location of the resort was perfect. Wyndham on I Drive is right on International Drive and in a short driving distance to the parks, restaurants, shops and so much more. Within walking distance, we had multiple restaurants, stores, and attractions. The resort also offers complimentary shuttles to Universal Studios, Island of Adventures and Sea World.

The resort itself is surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping with winding lagoons and relaxing courtyards. There are two spacious pools, tucked among lush gardens and the property also has multiple on-site dining options. However due to COVID restrictions the lobby bar was closed. The pools side bar and grill was open, Gatorville Poolside Bar & Grill and so was Cooper Hawk Winery & Restaurant. We spent a lot of time at Gatorville Poolside Bar and Grill as it was in the center of the resort. It became a center hub for us, from enjoying the buffet breakfast, which was delicious and very affordable, or afternoon drink, lunch, or dinner.

Recently the resort went thru a multi-million dollar renovation, and you could tell. Their lobby beautifully designed and decorated and so were their courtyard areas. For this blogging mom it was like a picture-perfect dream come true!

Another reason this is a very family friendly resort is because of their room options. Not only do they have their standard 1 king bed, 2 queen bed but also Family Bunk rooms. We opted in for this room as I knew our daughter would love having her own area with bunkbeds and kid’s TV with parental control.  Also, the resort is pet friendly!

WHAT WE DID

As I mentioned before we had a lot of fun activities planned. From entertaining show dinners to visiting theme parks! One day we were so excited to be invited to visit at ICON Park. It was a 2-minute drive, or short walk from the resort. The park has so much to do for everyone! Kid and adult attractions, first class shopping and great restaurant and bars. If you have never heard of ICON Park it is a home of 40+ shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues, including The Wheel, Orlando StarFlyer, Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE Aquarium, Museum of Illusion and so much more!

We ended up spending the whole afternoon there, going from attraction to attraction. This park not only is it fun for kids but also educational. Our daughter absolutely loved the aquarium, learning about sea life and Madame Tussauds where she wouldn’t stop asking who these people were and what they did. Next time you travel to Orlando, I would highly recommend a visit at ICON Park, the whole family will have a blast!
